The United Democratic Front (UDF) has formed up a 22-member committee called the National Working Committee (NWC).
In an interview on Monday, UDF President Atupele Muluzi explained that the NWC aims to achieve regional balance, gender balance, and youthful appeal by incorporating additional members from various regions and demographics.
He said the elected members of the committee will work together to understand their roles and responsibilities, think critically, and make collective decisions to deliver a better Malawi for all.
Muluzi said:”The committee will focus on addressing critical questions such as economic development, solutions for the benefit of Malawians, and strategic guidance for the party.
“Decision-making will now be a collective process, ensuring that the views of Malawians, including women and youth, are reflected in the party’s decisions.
“The NWC is crucial in taking the aspirations and wishes of the people of Malawi into account and making decisions that align with their needs and expectations.”
On her part, UDF Treasurer General Yowoyani Greenwell hailed UDF leadership for the establishment of the committee, saying it is important for the party’s good future.
She said:”In my own view, I have welcomed the new NWC because, from what I can say, it will pave the way for the party’s good future. Yes, forthcoming developments will follow. So, to me, it is very much okay. That is perfectly fine.”
